NGN route: Direct means naira deposit and withdrawal through the platform itself. P2P means naira only through merchant matching. No NGN means you must fund with crypto from elsewhere — see exchanges not available in Nigeria.

The head-to-head comparisons

CEX.IO vs Binance for Nigerians

CEX.IO holds US, UK and EU registrations and offers a direct naira route on an order book; Binance is larger and deeper globally but its naira availability changed after the 2024 Nigerian action, and its regulatory position here is the more complicated one. For a Nigerian who wants a licensed venue and a working naira route, CEX.IO. For someone who wants maximum global depth and is comfortable with P2P, Binance — subject to checking current naira availability.

Bybit vs Bitget for P2P

Both charge 0% P2P fee and both have deep Nigerian naira books. Bybit currently has the larger merchant base and the deeper book; Bitget is frequently competitive on individual offers. The correct answer is to hold accounts on both and compare the two books before a significant trade — the spread difference on ₦1m routinely exceeds anything else you can optimise. See best P2P exchanges.

Quidax vs Busha vs Roqqu

All three are Nigerian operators with native naira wallets. Quidax is the most complete — SEC-registered under the incubation route, the widest asset range of the three, and the most reliable naira routes. Busha has the cleanest interface and fewer assets, which suits someone who wants simplicity. Roqqu is mobile-first and workable, and the smallest of the three. Detail in local Nigerian exchanges.

Many experienced Nigerian users hold both: a Nigerian platform for the naira leg and a global one for depth and asset range, sweeping holdings to self-custody rather than leaving them on either.

What this table cannot tell you

  • The spread you will actually be quoted. The largest cost in a Nigerian crypto transaction is not in any fee column — see P2P rates.
  • Whether the exit works for you specifically. Name mismatches and tier limits are individual. Test a small withdrawal.
  • Current naira availability. This changes. Confirm on the platform before committing.
  • How a platform behaves under stress. The Patricia postmortem is the only honest guide to that question.

Frequently asked questions

Which crypto exchange is best for Nigeria overall?

It depends on what you optimise for. CEX.IO for licensing plus a direct naira route, Bybit or Bitget for the deepest zero-fee P2P naira books, and Quidax for the most complete Nigerian-operated platform with SEC registration. Many experienced users hold both a Nigerian and a global account.

What does 'NGN route' mean in the comparison table?

Direct means naira deposit and withdrawal through the platform itself. P2P means naira only through merchant matching with the platform holding escrow. No NGN means you must fund the account with crypto sent from elsewhere.

Is CEX.IO or Binance better for Nigerians?

CEX.IO if you want a licensed venue with a working direct naira route on an order book. Binance if you want maximum global depth and are comfortable with P2P — subject to checking current naira availability, which changed after the 2024 Nigerian action.

Bybit or Bitget for P2P in Nigeria?

Hold accounts on both. Both charge 0% P2P fee; Bybit currently has the larger merchant base and deeper book while Bitget is frequently competitive on individual offers. Comparing the two books before a ₦1m trade is worth more than any other optimisation.

Should I use a Nigerian or a global exchange?

Nigerian platforms give you a native naira wallet, local support and a Nigerian legal entity with SEC registration. Global platforms give you lower cost, far wider asset range and a much larger security budget. Using one of each and holding savings in your own wallet is the common experienced setup.

What does this comparison not tell me?

The spread you will actually be quoted, which is the largest cost in a Nigerian crypto transaction and appears in no fee column. Also whether the exit works for your specific account — test a small withdrawal before you need it to work.
